Peer Mentoring Program

The Youth Council Peer Mentors are a group of high school youth who voluntarily participate in activities to promote a drug-free community and lifestyle. These 9th – 12th grade youth are representatives from the City, County, and private schools in our area who take a stand with us and believe in the mission of the Dothan-Houston County Substance Abuse Partnership. These youth donate at least 20 community hours a month and their activities include: learning and then performing skits and presentations, writing and producing public service announcements for television, radio, and the local newspapers, a monthly Teen Talk show aired on a local cable company, and peer mentoring with younger youth in schools and affiliated agencies. These youth also represent the Dothan-Houston County Substance Abuse Partnership Youth Council at any and all public functions the agency attends.
